Chester Photo Festival

 

  • The main event is expected from 8 to 11 May, Thursday to Sunday (TBC).

  • Priorities are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis!

  • Deadline: 15th March 2025 or when 100 works have been selected.

  • FREE Entries up to 5 works.

  • Only if your work is selected will we ask for a participation fee of £0 to £30 per work to cover the exhibition costs.

  • Notifications will be sent by 30th March 2025. 

  • You will only be notified if your work is selected.

 

  • We aim to include a variety of non-standard entries, such as installations, videos, projections, objects on display, larger works, or focused small-group projects. We encourage you to contact us, either using the 'Expression of Interest' form below or emailing us at events@chesterphotofestival.com, to discuss the curatorial details and participation fee directly with our team.

  • You will only be asked to pay a participation fee from £0 to £30 if your work is selected.

  • Include the title of your work, year, sizes, and a statement of up to 100 words for each work.

  • Prepare up to 5 JPEG files, 300dpi, the shortest side at least 5 inches.

  • Send your work via wetransfer.com to our email: events@chesterphotofestival.com

  • Alternatively, contact us by email at events@chesterphotofestival.com, especially for non-standard entries.

  • All the dates and the event programme will be confirmed by the end of March 2025.

  • The main event is expected from 8 to 11 May, Thursday to Sunday (TBC).

  • Additional locations will remain open for the entire month; others will continue in June 2025.

 

  • Exhibitions will take place at 5 locations across Chester City Centre.

  • The curatorial team will select the works and spaces to work together. This will depend on both the participants' works and the organisational process.

  • Possible locations: Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces Chester, Chester Town Hall, St Werburgh's Church, St John's Church, Grosvenor Museum (locations TBC).

  • Other locations within Chester City Centre will also be considered, depending on the curatorial and selection process (to be confirmed when invitations are sent to participants).

 

  • We aim to include a variety of non-standard entries, such as installations, videos, projections, objects on display, larger works, or focused small-group projects. We strongly encourage you to contact us to discuss the curatorial details and participation fee directly with our team.

  • It is important that your work explores personal feelings, stories, myths, and folklore.

  • We expect a number of workshops as well as artist talks to take place (details to be confirmed).

The three main days festival at the Chester Photo Festival Friday to Sunday will be led by Dr Alexandru Modoi 

It is a festival for everyone at all levels working with photo-entanglement.
